Danae Stratou

In 1988 Danae Stratou graduated from Central St Martins College of Art and Design in London, where she studied fine arts. In 1997, the group D.A.St. was created by the artist together with architect S. Konstantinidis and industrial designer A. Stratou. They created Desert Breath, a 100,000m2 land art project in El Gouna, Egypt. In 2010 she cofounded the non-profit organisation Vital Space, a global interdisciplinary, cross-media art platform involved with vital issues of our epoch.

Danou her interest lies in land art installations, using materials such as water, earth, steel, or glass, but also other mediums such as video, sound and audiovisual presentations, with the aim to affect the viewer’s inner rhythms and feelings, to activate all the senses and to thus succeed in involving the viewer in the art work.  She has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad (Venice Biennale, 1999, Valencia Biennale, 2001, Thessaloniki Biennale, 2007 et al.).
